I am very worried. Two girls that were preaching… convinced me that I should be baptized that same day…. I let them baptize me in a bathtub, so later I wanted to find out more about their congregation. It turns out that I made a serious mistake, because they had not told me the whole story, since I later found out that they serve a mother god. I felt so let down for that misstep that I asked my Jesus to forgive me.

I now am afraid that something bad could happen to me or to my children because of that mistake…. Do you think that congregation has any power over me, since I am feeling so anxious?

Dear Friend,

The women who baptized you belong to a cult that is spreading throughout many countries of the world. Its followers teach that baptism into their sect and believing in a mother god (along with the Father God) will get you into heaven. They have their own prophet who takes the place of Jesus Christ, and whose writings are considered to be equal to the Bible.

You probably were confused because the followers of this cult claim to teach the Bible. They use the vocabulary of the Bible and some of the sacraments of the church. But their teachings twist the Scripture and trick those whom they are trying to convert.

You made a mistake to accept their teachings and be baptized. However, the good news is that God forgives us when we sin and make mistakes. Jesus died on the cross to take our punishment for our sin so we wouldn’t have to be punished eternally in hell. When you ask God, in the name of Jesus, to forgive you for your sin, He forgives you and lets you begin again, as if you had never sinned. Being baptized by those women is no worse a sin than other sins. It is just another act that God will forgive you for.

You don’t have to worry about the people of the cult. They have no power over you. God, our Father, has more power than any other supernatural force, and He protects those who choose to follow Him and serve Him. King David wrote the following about our God: “He will give His angels charge concerning you, to guard you in all your ways.”(1)

The way to avoid future confusion is to study the Bible yourself and attend a church where the people demonstrate their love for God and for His Word. Otherwise, you will be confused by every cult that comes your way. Pray every day and ask God to reveal the truth to you.

We wish you the best,

Linda
